If you are using a tape measure, measure the length of the room and multiply it by the width of the room to get the room's square footage. If you have your home's floor plans, refer to them to get the length and width of the room where the vinyl flooring is to be installed.

Vinyl flooring comes in a variety of widths. Once you have decided on a product, you will need to find its specs, including width. Knowing the product's width will help you in converting the square footage of your room into the dimensions in which the flooring product is sold.

Square Footage To Square Yardage
